Running on high is definitely one of those tracks that took time to have ready. Had to sit with this track for months and months making sure it sounds perfect. I saw La Veda post about house music on a social networking site and I got curious about her voice and her work. I then decided to hit up her name on Traxsource.com then came up all her music. She was a genuine house vocalist and I’m known for not working with traditional house vocalist. My manager thought we should propose a possible feature and she agreed. We gave her limited time to do this song and she came to the party and gave us a dope song.
I 1st heard of Harmony Blackwell on YouTube when she posted her group’s work ‘Unified Tribe’ I was interested in her timeless voice and had proposed she does a feature for me. On this song she wanted to have fun and take it back to the era of the likes of Donna Summer and other power singers of that time. A great surprise was when her sister Danna Starr came to add a bit of a twist on the jam as she played an old Australian indigenous instrument the didgeridoo!
Here we pushed the limits. The track was recorded in the early hours of the morning round about 3am. Clown Dallas, Bra Ali and I had been working all night trying to find a jazzy vibe to the beat. Clowns fingers were aching from pressing the record button and as we were about to fall asleep Bra Ali woke us up as he lite up the vibes, he was intoxicated by the beat and kept on rollin’ non stop…
After admiring the great voice of Donald Sheffey, I fantasized about him gracing my music with his voice, so I made the beat and had my manager contact his management team for a possible collaboration and he loved the beat. Working with him gave me great confidence in my music. We created a friendship and often spoke on bbm and he would always remind me of how great I am. Sheffey has a bubbly and fun personality and he shared ideas and hinted what he would sing about on the song and that’s how privacy was born.
Captivated is honest and true, this track was born from an argument I had with Charlie after being unable to get hold of him for about a month since he had the beat. His partner Bobby, my manager and I went down at him from Kwa Thema to the Maneuver’ent Studios without him saying a word. The first words that came out of his mouth came out to the mic and they said, “There’s a voice inside my head that’s screams out I AM ALIVE”… We knew a beauty was born.

Ashley sang a song so sweet, so sexual and so alluring. Meat The Veggies crew members Sol and Bongani brought so much musicality and depth to this masterpiece. I’ve always wanted my music to do the talking for me, I never had any history, no reference to my work, nothing at all, but all I had was a desire to work with a soul singer like Zanya Laurence. It was not easy convincing her to work with me, so after many attempts of convincing her, my brother made me send her the beat and she replied and told me she absolutely loves the instrumental. She sang and I could tell that the song was sincere and heartfelt. After recording the song Zanya and I created a friendship filled with motivation and dedication to our art. This song is actually about her having to deal with her fathers passing and telling him that she is happy and doing fine. This was my 1st single, the song that introduced me to the world.
My Lecture turned friend, Andre Frauenstein recommended this BRILLIANT 16 year old singer, and without hearing her voice I was already excited, that’s how much I trust this guy. He hooked me up with her contact we set up a date for recording at Retro and we set the studio alive.
MJ is one of those guys who I've always admired his voice. I've had been a fan of him for years. I would get lost in music and imagine his voice on my beats. After contacting him we decided to do a house jam with classic influences and this crazy but yet soulful jam was born.
